Waiting for the first day of school can leave you excited, anxious, and even overwhelmed. We want you to rest easy. Here are a few things to keep in mind before you enter the nursing program at Broward Technical College.
Health Science Requirements
Before the first day of school, you want to make sure that you have completed all the necessary requirements. There are a few extra prerequisites for students in the health science department, particularly those whose classes require they go to a hospital, nursing home, or other health care facility.
- Level II background check
- Successful completion of a 10-panel drug screen
- Immunizations, physical examinations, a TB test, or chest x-ray may also be required
The Tests Don’t End When School Does
Our nursing program is just the beginning of your nursing journey. Once you’ve completed your courses, you’ll need to take the NCLEX-PN examination to get licensed. Our courses are designed to help ensure you are prepared. However, it’s important you are staying active in your classes, listening with intent, and asking questions when things are unclear.
Find a Study Buddy
There may be times in nursing school where you feel like you are taking in too much information. After all, a nursing career isn’t easy, and school won’t be either. Finding a study buddy can help tremendously. There may be days they catch information you didn’t, and vice versa. Plus, by setting up times to study with a friend or group, that can help hold you accountable.
We’re so excited you are pursuing a career in healthcare at our technical colleges in Broward County. This selfless and giving passion is one you should be so proud of! Still have questions or ready to enroll? Reach out today!
